JRC Summer School and ESTIV travel grants

ESTIV is happy to announce that it will provide 4 x 500 € travel grants for the upcoming JRC summer school.

The European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC), which runs the EU Reference Laboratory for alternatives to animal testing (EURL ECVAM), is organising a JRC Summer School on "Non-Animal Approaches in Science: Challenges and Future Directions", to be held from 21 to 24 May 2019 at the JRC site in Ispra (Italy). The aim of the JRC Summer School is to share knowledge and experience on the latest non-animal approaches used in research and testing including in vitro methods and computational modelling. ESTIV poster award during the 54rd EUROTOX Congress in Brussels

           

The 54th Congress of the European Societies of Toxicology (EUROTOX) took place in Brussels-Belgium on 2-5 September 2018 and was co-organized by the Belgian Society of Toxicology and Ecotoxicology (BelTox). The theme of the congress was “Toxicology out of the box” and the scientific program highlighted significant developments and achievements in the field of toxicology, including in vitro and in silico toxicology. ESTIV has granted a best poster award, including a prize of 500€ and 1 year free ESTIV membership, during the congress to Timothy Allen from the Centre for Molecular Informatics of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambridge-United Kingdom for the poster entitled “Computational approaches for predicting molecular initiating events”. The poster was selected by a jury consisting of ESTIV board members based on originality, complexity, presentation, rationale and relevance to the field of in vitro and in silico toxicology.

We are happy to announce the 20th International Congress on In Vitro Toxicology scheduled 15–18 October 2018 in Berlin, Germany.

The aim of the conference is to provide an opportunity to update attendees with the latest advances in the field of in vitro toxicology as well as facilitating networking with other delegates working in this area. Abstract submission will be opened in January 2018.

ESTIV 2016 meeting

ESTIV, the French Society of Toxicology (SFT), and the Cell Pharmacology-Toxicology Society (SPTC) organised the 19th International Congress on In Vitro Toxicology ESTIV2016, in Juan-les-Pins, France, 17-20 October 2016, focused on “In Vitro Toxicology for Human Safety Assessment”. The ESTIV2016 congress was a four-day event, with specific emphasis on how new technologies can strengthen the interpretation and application of in vitro methods in risk assessment.

The theme of the 52nd congress was “Protecting public and environmental health by understanding and communicating toxicology” and the scientific program highlighted significant developments and achievements in the field of toxicology, including in vitro and in silico toxicology. ESTIV has granted the best poster award, including a prize of 500€ and 1 year free ESTIV membership, during the 52nd EUROTOX Congress to Vânia Vilas Boas from the Laboratory of Toxicology - Biological Sciences Department of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Porto - Portugal for the poster entitled “Targeting chemokine receptor CXCR4 with magnetic particles to eliminate leukaemia cells with magnetic hyperthermia”. The poster was selected by the jury consisting of Mathieu Vinken, Bas Blaauboer en Paul Jennings based on originality, complexity, presentation, rationale and relevance to the field of in vitro and in silico toxicology.
