He is a trained nutritionist and holds an MSc and PhD in Cell and Structural Biology from the Federal University of Vi\u00e7osa (UFV), Brazil. His recent research, mostly in the ONTOX project (<a href=\"https:\/\/ontox-project.eu\/\">https:\/\/ontox-project.eu\/<\/a>), is focused on supporting NAMs development by setting the physiological grounds for Adverse Outcome Pathways building and refinement, computational modeling rationale, and ontology maps construction. Luiz volunteers at the VPH Institute (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vph-institute.org\/\">https:\/\/www.vph-institute.org\/<\/a>) and the Avicenna Alliance (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.avicenna-alliance.com\/\">https:\/\/www.avicenna-alliance.com\/<\/a>), advocating for <em>in silico<\/em> methods in healthcare and research.
