ESTIV Travel grants for attending WC11 in Maastricht

Description
ESTIV will grant 2 travel bursaries to attend the 11th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences taking place 22-26 August 2021 in Maastricht-The Netherlands. Grantees will be:

  • Reimbursed up to 500€ of travel and accommodation costs after the 11th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences following submission of a certificate of attendance as well as original receipts and/or invoices;
  • Expected to write a contribution on the conference for the ESTIV newsletter;
  • Expected to give a webinar on their research for ESTIV members.

Eligibility
At the time of the deadline of application, eligible candidates must be:

  • Member of ESTIV for at least 1 year;
  • Maximum 35 years old;
  • At master, doctoral or postdoctoral level;
  • Officially living or working in Europe in the past 3 years;
  • Not have received a travel bursary from ESTIV in the past 5 years;
  • Not have received a travel bursary from another source for attending the 11th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences.

Application
The application dossier should contain:

  • A copy of the identity card mentioning date of birth;
  • A Curriculum Vitae including full affiliation and list of publications;
  • Letter of support of 2 referees among which preferably the current supervisor and/or former (master/doctoral) thesis promotor;
  • A personal motivation letter.

The different documents in the application dossier should be sent as PDF files in a single mail to the ESTIV President Helena  Kandarova: helena.kandarova@outlook.sk and ESTIV Vice-president João Barroso Joao.BARROSO@ec.europa.eu at latest by 1 July 2021 at 5:00 pm CET.

Evaluation of the application dossiers and selection of the winners will be done by the ESTIV Board. The winners will be personally informed by ESTIV President by 12 July 2020 followed by announcement in the ESTIV newsletter and social media.

ESTIV Best poster award at the WC 11 in Maastricht

ESTIV will grant a best poster award, including 500€ and 1 year (2021) free ESTIV membership, to a PhD student or young scientist (≤ 35 years old) presenting her/his research work in the field of in vitro or in silico toxicology per poster as first author during the 11th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences taking place 22-26 August 2021 in Maastricht, The Netherlands. https://wc11maastricht.org/grants-awards/

The winner will be selected based on scientific excellence, innovation and clarity of the poster presentation. Eligibility also includes presence during the closing ceremony of the 11th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences, as the winner will be announced at this occasion.

Attendees of the 11th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences need to indicate their interest in the ESTIV best poster award by sending the following documents to ESTIV President Helena Kandarova helena.kandarova@outlook.sk and ESTIV Vice-president João Barroso Joao.BARROSO@ec.europa.eu 

at latest by 1 August 2021:

  • Curriculum Vitae;
  • Supporting letter from the supervisor or the head of department;
  • Abstract as first author submitted for poster presentation to the 11th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences;
  • Proof of registration for the 11th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences.

ESTIV best poster award at the EUROTOX 2021

Description

ESTIV will grant a best poster award, including 500 EUR and 1 year (2022) free ESTIV membership, to a PhD student or young scientist (≤ 35 years old) presenting her/his research work in the field of in vitro or in silico toxicology per poster as first author during the EUROTOX 2021 congress.

The winner will be selected based on scientific excellence, innovation, and clarity of the poster presentation. The ESTIV Awards Committee will select the candidates based on the Abstracts submitted to the congress and make their decision after reviewing selected posters on site and discussing with the presenting author.

Eligibility also includes presence during the closing ceremony of the EUROTOX 2021 congress, as the winner will be announced at this occasion.

  • Supporting letter from the supervisor or the head of department
  • Accepted abstract at the EUROTOX Congress 2021

2021 ESTIV POSTER AWARD – JRC SUMMER SCHOOL

The European Society of Toxicology In Vitro (ESTIV) is happy to announce that it will be offering POSTER AWARD (€ 500, Certificate) to a young scientist participating in the JRC Summer School 2021 on Non-animal Approaches in Science: The Three R…evolution, to be held from 18 to 21 May 2021 at the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC) site in Ispra (Italy).

The JRC Summer School is specifically tailored for post-graduate students (e.g. master and PhD students) and early-career scientists (max. 4 years after master) working in the biosciences and will focus on non-animal methods and technologies and the opportunities and challenges associated with their application in various fields such as regulatory toxicology and biomedical research. Selection of participants will be based on the following criteria:

  • Applicants should be members of ESTIV. The membership application can be sought before sending the requested files. (Please visit https://estiv.org/membership and proceed with the membership application via the link given on the web).
  • The relevance of the current area of study or job to in vitro/in silico toxicology
  • Clarity and relevance of the motivation letter
  • Scientific quality of the poster abstract
  • Priority will be given to applicants who did not receive a grant or award from ESTIV in the past 3 years

  • Decisions on the Pester award will be announced by an e-mail from the ESTIV President to the awarded student on 20 May 2021
