SAAOP – joins forces with ESTIV and ASCCT starting January 2025

The Society for the Advancement of Adverse Outcome Pathways (SAAOP) was formed in 2013 with the simple mission of paying the server costs for hosting the AOP-Wiki website so that the AOP-Wiki could remain outside institutional firewalls, open access to all. In the decade since its establishment, the scope of the SAAOP mission has grown, and the number of dues-paying members has tripled while its associate membership has increased by a factor of 20. Thus, in 2024, the SAAOP affiliated with the American Society for Cellular and Computational Toxicology (ASCCT) and the European Society for Toxicology In Vitro (ESTIV).

While SAAOP will continue to function as an independent society with its leadership and mission, ASCCT and ESTIV will assume various administrative functions, including budget management, member communications, and various activities associated with supporting the organization of face-to-face meetings and events.

As of January 2025, all SAAOP members are asked to join either ESTIVASCCT, or both, and pay the annual dues for those organizations. When you join, tick the box indicating your interest in SAAOP membership as well, and you will automatically be registered as a member of SAAOP. Existing ESTIV or ASCCT members should login to their account and tick the SAAOP box if renewing your membership or reach out to aopwiki@googlegroups.com to be added to the SAAOP membership list. SAAOP will no longer collect dues from its membership.  Associate members of SAAOP, who previously were not asked to pay dues, will now need to pay dues to either ESTIV or ASCCT to continue membership with SAAOP.
Benefits A free and open AOP-Wiki: Your membership dues will keep the AOP-Wiki and all its services freely available to everyone.

A more active SAAOP:  Reduced administrative burden frees up SAAOP leadership to focus on the technical mission of the society, which is expected to increase the number of scientific initiatives the society can engage in.

AOP-focused satellite meetings: Both ASCCT and ESTIV organize annual or bi-annual meetings. SAAOP will be able to host satellite events in coordination with these meetings, allowing for face-to-face SAAOP events for the first time.

Opportunity to engage with the many great activities, events, and discussions in the affiliate societies, including the monthly webinar series.
Continue your engagement with SAAOP, by registering as an SAAOP member via the ASCCT or ESTIV today!
