Dr. Helena Kandarova, ESTIV President, among the finalists of the ESET Science Award!

We are pleased to announce a significant achievement within our esteemed community. Dr. Helena Kandarova, President of the European Society of Toxicology In Vitro (ESTIV), has earned the distinguished honour of being shortlisted for the ESET Science Award 2023. Dr. Kandarova’s nomination reflects her exceptional dedication and expertise in the field of alternative methods to animal testing.

The ESET Science Award stands as a symbol of recognition for outstanding contributions to the realm of science and innovation in Slovakia. The ceremony is attended by representatives of Slovak and foreign scientific communities, ambassadors and the representatives of government institutions carried out under the auspices of the President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Čaputová, and in its fifth year, also under the auspices of the European Commission’s Representation in Slovakia. The Award is given in three categories:

  • Outstanding Scientist in Slovakia
  • Outstanding Scientist in Slovakia under the age of 35,
  • Outstanding Academic in Slovakia
    and is broadcasted on Slovak National Television and streamed online

The ESET Science Award laureates are selected by an international jury comprised of world-known experts from various scientific fields. Each year, the role of chair of the international jury is held by a Nobel Prize Laureate, and under their guidance, the jury presides over the selection and then the awarding of the laureates. The 2023 ESET Science Award Committee is chaired by Prof. Professor Michel Mayor, a renowned astrophysicist, who has been awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his discoveries in 2017.

In addition to these awards, there is also The Public Prize and the broad public has the opportunity to select their favourite scientist! Public voting is now officially open, allowing to cast a vote in support of Dr. Helena Kandarova.
