European Society of Toxicology In Vitro

The European Society of Toxicology In Vitro (ESTIV) joins the international scientific community in mourning the loss of Dr. Alan M. Goldberg, who passed away on 9 June 2026 at the age of 86.

As we prepare for the 23rd ESTIV Congress in Maastricht in 2026, we found ourselves looking back at the remarkable history of our community.
Many people know that the European Society of Toxicology In Vitro (ESTIV) was formally established in 1994. What is less widely known is that the roots of ESTIV go much deeper.

This interactive session, brings together early-career researcher communities from three major European initiatives in toxicology and chemical safety: the ASPIS Academy, the PARC Junior Community, and the VICT3R Early Stage Researcher Network.

The Toxicology in Vitro Special Issue linked to ESTIV 2026 brings together selected papers from the congress, highlighting cutting-edge research presented in Maastricht from 29 June to 2 July 2026. Aligned with the theme “Ensuring Safety, Advancing Science: Bridging to the Future with NAMs.

The award, valued at €300, will recognise an outstanding abstract in the field of in silico toxicology and New Approach Methodologies (NAMs).

ESTIV would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to all contributors to this special issue, which highlights some of the science and activities that took place during the congress.

We are pleased to announce that last‑minute poster abstract submissions are now open.

Researchers who still wish to contribute are warmly invited to submit their work. The deadline for last‑minute submissions is 8 May 2026 at 23:59 CET.
